Will Your Auto Insurance Weather The Storm?

Friday, July 24, 2009

auto insurance
Severe storms can cause enormous property damage to your home. They can also do the same thing to your car. With storms getting worse, what can you do? Take a look at your insurance policy. "Too often, people don't notice they lack certain types of coverage until they try to make a claim," says Ron Berry, senior vice president of the Council of Better Business Bureaus.
In fact, the number of reported claims for vehicle losses due to severe storms nearly doubled in the first five years of this century, according to ISO's Property Claim Services (PCS) unit, the recognized authority on insured property losses from catastrophes in the United States.
Fortunately, the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.), a nonprofit organization, says comprehensive coverage will reimburse you for loss due to fire, falling objects, storms, vandalism, animals and floods.
Comprehensive insurance usually has a $100 to $300 deductible, though you may want a higher one to lower your premium. Comprehensive insurance will reimburse you if your windshield is cracked or shattered.
"But, even if you have comprehensive coverage, it is not always guaranteed to meet your individual needs," says Carolyn Gorman, vice president of the I.I.I. "For example, you may be surprised to discover that after a storm your auto insurance does not automatically cover the cost of a replacement rental car while your car is in the repair shop or you wait for authorization for a new car."
She added that an individual could pay as much as $1,000 to rent a replacement car. "Rental reimbursement coverage, which is only a couple of dollars a month, covers the cost of a rental car while your car is being repaired or you are waiting for authorization for a new car. Renting a car for one day can cost more than one full year's coverage for rental reimbursement," Gorman said.
If your car is ever damaged in a storm:
• Know what your insurance covers. Don't wait to find out it doesn't include comprehensive or won't cover emergency roadside assistance or a rental car.
• Report damage as soon as possible. If your car is not drivable, your agent or claims center may be able to save you time and money by having it towed directly to the repair facility and providing you with a replacement rental car.
• Know your deductible and any other additional charges before authorizing work. Expect your insurance adjuster, claims representative or repair facility appraiser to review the damage with you and explain the process, including the use of original or generic auto parts.

Understanding Different Types of Auto Insurance

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

auto insurance
Auto Insurance policies can be divided into different categories according to the coverage they provide. Broadly speaking there are four kinds of policies known as Collision Insurance, Comprehensive Coverage Insurance, Uninsured and underinsured Motorist Coverage policies and No Fault Automobile Insurance policy. Besides these, there are policies that take care of other needs like covering an auto loan, paying for towing expenses or paying for the cost of a rented car while your vehicle is being repaired. The most common insurance policies are:
Collision: Any property damage caused to your vehicle due to an accident caused by any other vehicle or object is covered under this policy. The claim amount cannot exceed the actual cash value of the vehicle and is subject to any deductible.
Comprehensive: Any property damage to your vehicle that is caused by non-collision factors like fire, theft, vandalism, and even natural disasters like flood, hurricane or earthquake is covered under this policy.
Uninsured Motorist Coverage (UM) and underinsured motorist (UIM) coverage: takes cares of any injury that may result to you or to persons insured in your policy from an accident that takes place with another uninsured or underinsured driver or vehicle owner. Generally only body injuries are covered under this policy.
No Fault Auto Insurance Policy: Irrespective of who caused the accident, the insurance company pays for the medical expenses and for the loss of wages that the insured suffers on account of a collision under this policy.
Some other additional coverage that an auto insurance policy holder can buy are:
Property Damage Liability and Bodily Injury Liability: These two policies protect the insured from any claims made against him for causing damage to property including vehicle belonging to another person or for causing any bodily injury or loss of life to other individuals up to the amount mentioned in the policy.
Auto Lease Protection: is an additional protection that you may add to your collision or comprehensive auto insurance policy to take care of any gap that exists between your auto loan amount and the cash value of your vehicle.
Full Tort and Limited Tort: available only in the state of Pennsylvania allows the insured to retain unrestricted rights to bring a lawsuit against a negligent party or recover expenses incurred for certain damages.
Rental Expense: Known as Extended Transportation Expense Coverage, the policy pays for a rental car while your vehicle is being repaired or replaced.
Medical Payments Insurance covers medical expenses for injuries sustained in an accident involving any vehicle for the insured, his passengers and other parties irrespective of whose fault it is.
Towing and Labor: An additional coverage option that can pay for all necessary towing and labor costs to tow your damaged vehicle to a work shop or another location.

Save money on your auto insurance: Money-saving car insurance tips

auto insurance
Are you paying too much for your auto insurance? If you believe you are paying too much for your current auto insurance coverage then the following suggestions may help you save money:
1. Shop aroundSure, you’ve read this tip everywhere but it’s true. Only by shopping around for auto insurance coverage and getting quotes on premiums from several insurance companies will you be able to know for certain you are getting your car insurance coverage at the best available rate.
When shopping for your auto insurance policy, remember to compare more than insurance rates. Ask about how insurance claims are approved and processed, and how quickly they’re paid. Look into each insurers’ financial stability (there are independent rating services that can help you with this.) Remember, during times of stress like after an accident you will be dealing with the insurance company and you’ll want to make sure you’ll be helped when you need it most.
2. Select a higher insurance deductibleWhen you file a claim, a deductible is the amount you pay first before your insurer pays the remaining balance. Often people select lower deductibles, so when they have to submit a claim, their out-of-pocket expenses are minimal. But the truth is, the higher your collision and comprehensive deductibles the lower your auto insurance premium. The savings by increasing your deductible to say $1,000 from $250 are significant—you can save hundreds of dollars off your insurance premium.
Of course, the flipside is that if you should have to submit an insurance claim you are responsible for paying the deductible. So select the maximum deductible you can afford to pay—the higher the better because the difference in your car insurance premiums will mean more cash in your pocket.
3. Remove or reduce coverage on older vehiclesIf your car is getting up there in age, you may want to think about dropping the collision or comprehensive coverage (or both) on your policy. You need to think about this one though - it's not always a clear-cut decision. You need to weigh the cost of the two coverages with the value of your car and your chosen deductibles. For example, if you had a 10-year-old car that’s worth about $1000, and your deductible was $1000, the coverage is not actually going to help you.
4. Ask about discountsMost insurance companies offer discounts. While the availability of discounts will vary depending on your insurer, where you live and whether you meet eligibility, make sure to ask if there are any discounts you can take advantage of. The following is a list of a few of the more common discounts (if available in your state, each insurer will have different eligibility requirements):
• Multi-vehicle discount - available if you insure multiple vehicles with the same insurer • Multi-line discount - available if you insure your home and auto with the same insurer • Good driver discount - if you have not had an accident or ticket in a long time • Good student discount - if you’re a student with good grades, usually about a B average • Safe driver discount - if you’ve taken and passed an accredited driver safety course • Anti-theft discount - if your vehicle has certain anti-theft devices installed • Safe vehicle discount - if your vehicle has certain extra safety features • Retiree discount - if you’ve reached a certain age, usually 50 or 55 • Low mileage discount - if your vehicle is not driven often • Occupational discount - if you work in a certain field or hold a certain degree • Auto club discount - if you are a member of an auto club, like AAA • Association discount - if you belong to certain associations, like your alma mater • Away-at-school discount – if your child is attending school out of town
5. Choose a car that costs less to insureIf you’re purchasing a new car and have narrowed it down to two or three options, compare the auto insurance rates of each to see if there is a notable difference in the cost to insure. Remember, insurance rates are more for vehicles with high theft rates and repair costs. If there is a significant difference in cost to insure your first choice car, you may have to reconsider.
6. Drive safelyOK, this one is obvious but true. Driver’s with no accidents, tickets or insurance claims almost always pay less for their auto insurance coverage. Your driving record is an influential factor in determining your insurance rate. Tickets and at-fault accidents affect your insurance rates for years. With a less than perfect driving record, you can find yourself paying a lot of extra insurance premium over the years.

Locating Cheap Auto Insurance Premiums

Monday, July 13, 2009

auto insurance
Whether you receive car insurance quotes from phoning companies directly or browsing their web sites it makes no difference. However, it is often much quicker to find many free auto cheap insurance quotes online.
Before actually committing to a particular automobile insurance company it is wise to lay out your needs first. Motor car insurance is there to protect you and your family from possible financial ruin. It is to cover your costs in case of a catastrophic occurrence. It is not only there to pay for the repair or replacement of your car, but for any medical or hospital bills that may become necessary.
There are many things to consider before taking out an auto cheap insurance policy. One thing to think about is the amount of your deductible. A higher deductible can save you a little on your premiums, but it may end up costing you more if you are actually involved in an accident that is your fault. No fault car insurance can increase your premiums, but it sure is great to have if an uninsured runs into your automobile. Most auto insurance companies offer discounts for features that will reduce the risk of injuries or theft. Daytime running lights or anti-theft devices can often lower your premiums due to the fact that they will decrease the likelihood of you filing a claim.
Many people decide to drop the collision or comprehensive coverage if they own a car that is not worth very much money. Why pay higher premiums for a car that is not worth very much? So choosing to insure for liability only is certainly a way to lower the coverage costs. Insuring for just liability has the potential to save you a lot of money, but if you are involved in an accident with someone that is uninsured you will probably end up paying your repair bills out of your own pocket.
Once you have decided if you want full coverage or just liability and have also considered your other insurance factors it’s time to get some free auto insurance quotes. You want a company that is financially stable which can be checked by using a rating company. One of the better known rating companies is Standard and Poor’s. There are also many magazines available that can help you find some financially strong insurers.
The internet is the easiest method of getting fast and free quotes, but there are other places to search as well. Many companies sell their own insurance through their own agents while other agents can get quotes from several different insurance companies, allowing you the opportunity to go with the lower priced ones. It is often wise to ask acquaintances about their insurance. Price alone should not be the sole deciding factor when insuring your auto. Dependability, honesty, 24-hour claims service and other factors should also be weighed.
A wise thing to do is to contact your state insurance department. They can provide information about the companies you are investigating. If there are consumer complaints about a particular insurer chances are they can tell you.
Another item that should be thought about is the possibility of saving money by insuring both your auto and your home through the same company. Most insurance companies will give you lower rates if you insure more things with them.
If you want to keep your costs the cheapest possible there are many other factors in determining what your coverage will end up costing you. Some of these include the quality of your credit rating, how many miles you drive each year (lower mileage can mean cheaper premiums) and whether or not you work for a company that will allow you to get their group discount. Some professionals such as doctors or chiropractors get discounts. Belonging to certain types of businesses or associations can also possibly qualify you for auto cheap insurance coverage. One of the biggest factors is your driving history. Have you been in other accidents lately?
These are all factors that should be investigated before committing to a particular company. Write down all of your questions and concerns and then you can begin with the free quotes. Call several insurance agents that are in your area and get some free quotes online. You can save on your premiums by doing just a little homework.

Getting the Best Deal on Auto Insurance

Monday, July 6, 2009

auto insuranceShop around and do it yearly. Don’t just keep paying the invoice over and over without comparison shopping. Below are a few suggestions to help you get the best deal available on your automobile insurance policy.
Insurance agents really have a lot of leeway. They can price match and they can offer many discounts. There are also many decisions you can make about your policy that will save you a bundle. For example, if you change your deductible on your collision from a $50 deductible to a $1000 deductible, you’re inline for a huge premium savings. If you don’t think you could come up with $1000 out of pocket, then change it to a $500 deductible; you’ll still save a sizable amount on your annual premium payment.
You can also get more of a savings if you change your comprehensive deductible. Many people needlessly carry full coverage on their older vehicle. They originally purchased the vehicle new, paid for full coverage and to this day, continue to pay the same high rate. Their ten year old vehicle may be worth $1000 or less, yet they continue to pay $250-$450 every six months (total $500 to $900 dollars a year) to keep full coverage on their old vehicle.
However, if they have an accident and totaled their vehicle, the insurance company will only pay them the wholesale value of the vehicle. The amount they would receive could be $1000 or less. A vehicle that old just needs the insurance that protects the other person in case of an accident.
Another method to save more on your insurance is by combining your vehicles and other insurance together to get you additional savings. All insurance companies offer a multi-car discount (if yours doesn’t, it’s time to switch companies). Further, many will discount more if you have your homeowners or renters policy with them.
There are a few other discounts that you may not be taking advantage of. It seems obvious, but make sure you are getting the correct rate for your age. There are discounts for various ages than can save you lots of money. Check with your agent on this one. Also alarm systems on your vehicle are usually good for a discount. Additionally, anti-lock brakes and air bags can also help lower your premiums.
Don’t just keep paying the invoice when it comes in. Your insurance bill should be an automatic trigger for you to make a few phone calls to see if you can save even more money on your auto insurance premiums.

Driving An Expensive Or High-Performance Car? Make Sure Your Car Has Adequate Insurance

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

auto insuranceWhen buying insurance, most people ask for "full coverage" without knowing what they're asking for. What's the problem? There is no such thing as "full coverage". While understanding your coverage is important for everyone, it is vitally important if you're driving a Mercedes, BMW, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Porsche, Viper, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus, or Aston Martin.
If you're driving an expensive, exotic or high-performance car, you will want to make sure that after an accident you receive OEM parts, OEM paint, the ability to repair your vehicle at the auto body shop of your choice, and the amount of money needed for the repair.
Repairing an expensive car with non-OEM parts and/or improper workmanship will result in substantial diminished value. With expensive cars, even a proper repair will result in diminished value. What is diminished value? It is the lowered market value of a vehicle subsequent to repair. For instance, a Porsche or Ferrari will be worth less after an accident, even after it has been properly repaired. For research on diminished value, see
You do not want to get into an argument with your insurance company as to whether or not your vehicle can be repaired or should be totaled. Often, insurance companies will want to repair your car, when you think it should be totaled. If the insurance company agrees to total your car, most insurance policies only provide "actual cash value" insurance coverage which would only give you with a payment based on the current replacement cost of your vehicle, less depreciation (the decrease in the value of your car due to use, deterioration and the passage of time).
In the event that an exotic or high-priced car is totaled, the best replacement coverage is "agreed value" or "stated value". The only insurance companies I have found to offer agreed value insurance are Chubb and MetLife.
Chubb's web site states: "You and Chubb can agree on a value and lock it in for a full year. That's the exact amount you'll receive if your car is stolen or totaled in a covered loss. Never mind the "book" value. We even waive the deductible. No haggling, no depreciation, no deductible, no problem."
MetLife's web site states: Equivalent New Automobile Replacement for Total Loss is offered for vehicles within the first year of purchase or the first 15,000 miles, whichever comes first.
What's the difference between Chubb's "Agreed Value Option" and MetLife's "Equivalent New Automobile Replacement" coverage? For high-value cars, Chubb is definitely the better choice. Chubb offers its agreed value coverage every year and readjusts the agreed value upon policy renewal. From what I have seen, the adjusted agreed value even years and over 100,000 miles later is substantially higher than actual value. Additionally, on a different topic, Chubb also offers up to $1 million of underinsured coverage, which is also vitally important. Make sure you ask your Chubb agent for the maximum underinsured coverage.
For average value new cars, MetLife is a good choice. MetLife does not offer its Equivalent New Automobile Replacement coverage after the first year or first 15,000 miles. For drivers of most new cars, this is still a good value because it is not uncommon for someone to total their new car soon after purchasing it. Usually, just driving a car out of the showroom can result in as much as $10,000 depreciation.

Car Insurance Tips to Remember

Thursday, June 18, 2009

auto insuranceLost your car? Well, provided your car has been insured, you can always get a reimbursement. That's the good thing about car insurance. It means insurance against loss due to theft or traffic accidents. Getting car insurance would guarantee payment of expenses incurred when your vehicle is involved in accidents, or is subjected to vandalism or theft. It also ensures you are able to cover the costs of potential damages or injuries.
Zero percent car insurance
Car insurance dealers may often make announcements of zero percent auto financing, and you may be tempted to go for this great deal. It would be a dream to drive away a new car with zero percent financing. This means a $15,000 car may fetch you savings in thousands, versus five-year car insurance with interest. However, you should know that this 0% car financing is not available for everyone. Many people even make the mistake of buying a more expensive car with no cost car insurance, thinking there will be no interest that they have to pay. Unfortunately, this happening is very rare.
Zero percent car insurance takes credit report into consideration to qualify for this insurance financing, and the guidelines for credit are extremely demanding too. There would be so many conditions of eligibility along with this offer that eventually only a few can actually get a great deal with the dealers. It is seen that car insurance with an interest rate offers a much better deal. Most of the time, this zero percent car insurance is offered only on some select vehicles; mostly on slow vehicles as the dealer's main aim is to get rid of the vehicles.
If you are a first time buyer, or you have a limited budget for your car, you should carefully investigate the different insurance policies available, as some might suit you better financially. So do some research, as it is possible to get cheap motor insurance as well as keep the premium on the policy very low.
Tips on car insurance
Some important tips to remember are:
• Higher excess: You can opt yourself to pay a higher excess in the event of an insurance claim.• Do thorough research on the internet, as online car insurance is a lot cheaper.• You get cheaper insurance if you get an approved immobilizer fitted in your car.• Get an insurance broker, as he can help you pick the right insurance.• If you are a student, you may gain some concession from the companies.• You can also get a cheap car with a small engine, as the more costly the car is, the higher the premium will be.• By building and protecting a 'no claims' bonus you will have a great impact on your insurance rates.• If your car was very cheap, it may be cost-effective to have third-party, fire and theft insurance, instead of fully comprehensive cover. • Never give your price first, and never take the first quote from an insurer.• If you can, get your own copy of Credit Report and show it to the insurance companies, as they will charge you to get it for you during the approval process.

Car Insurance For High-Risk Drivers

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

auto insuranceIf you are classified as a high-risk driver, finding car insurance can be quite a hassle. Some insurance companies will deny insurance to high-risk drivers, while others just choose to charge extremely high premiums. No matter which insurance company you choose, you will most likely end up with a high rate. However, every insurance company is different, so it is important to shop around for the best rates available.
There are many different factors that can contribute to a high-risk driver classification. However, your driving record is the most important factor in determining your risk status. If you have been involved in several accidents over the course of a year or within two to three years, these incidents will negatively affect your record even if they were not your fault. Being involved in any accident can deem you a reckless driver with a penchant for getting into dangerous situations. Also, if you have received multiple speeding tickets, you are also increasing your risk of getting into car accidents. You may be labeled a high-risk driver just by the number of speeding tickets you have received.
There are also several personal factors that contributed to the high-risk label. Unfortunately, many of these factors are beyond your control. Men are typically deemed a higher risk than women, and those who live in the city are considered higher risk than those who live in the country. If you are a city dweller, you will probably pay higher car insurance premiums than if you live in the suburbs or in a rural area. Also, drivers with newer cars are charged higher premiums than those with older automobiles.
Unfortunately, even your credit history can affect your car insurance rating. Those with low credit ratings are usually charged higher premiums than those with better credit scores. Whether or not you have been covered by car insurance continuously is also a factor. If there are gaps in your coverage, they will assume that you have had periods of uninsured driving. Because driving without insurance is very unsafe and also very illegal, insurance companies take this into consideration when considering your rate.
Though it can take several years of clean driving to erase the high-risk driver label, it can still be done. Three years is the industry standard for reassessing a driver’s safety standing. If you have a clean record for a three-year period, you can work your way back to the benefits of lower premiums. However, three years’ worth of high premiums can really add up over time. If you are a high-risk driver, there are still ways to lower your insurance payments. With a little research, you can reduce your payments by a fair amount.
There are many car insurance companies that offer free quotes online. Rather than meeting with salespeople or playing phone tag with agents, Internet sites will give you a quote in minutes. This makes comparison-shopping easier than ever. There are even websites that will find a list of quotes for you. Sites like Netquote.com allow you to enter all of your information one time rather than repeating the process for every insurance company you investigate. Netquote will generate a list of rates organized in an easy to read fashion. This process may take a few days, but the results are typically worth it.
Working toward a clean driving record is the best way to ensure that you will get the best car insurance rates. Avoid congested areas whenever possible, and be sure to slow down in reduced speed zones. Be aware of your surroundings and never speed, and you will be on your way to a successful reduction in your rates.

Car Insurance : Protect Your Second Life!

Sunday, May 31, 2009

auto insuranceAuto insurance in general, which includes car insurance is an insurance consumers can purchase for cars, trucks, and other vehicles. It’s mainly meant to provide protection against losses incurred as a result of car accidents and also thefts of vehicle. It also includes losses arising due to natural calamities. To have your car insured is mandatory by law. When you insure you get a "policy" which is based on a variety of factors including the type of car you drive, as well as what kind of insurance you want, as these policies are actually a package of different types of insurance coverage. They can be classified as:
· Liability - This coverage pays for accidental physical injury of the body and damage to others’ property. Injury damages include medical expenses, pain or suffering and lost wages. Property damage includes damages to the automobile. This coverage also pays for defense and court costs. State laws fix how much liability coverage you must purchase, but you can also get more coverage if you wish.
· Collision - This insurance pays for damages to your vehicle caused by collision with another vehicle or object.
· Comprehensive - This coverage pays for losses or damages to the insured vehicle that doesn't occur in an auto accident. The possible types of damages comprehensive insurance covers include loss caused by fire, wind, hail, flood, vandalism or theft.
· Medical Coverage - Pays medical expenses regardless of whose fault it was as long as the expenses are caused by an auto accident.
· PIP - Personal Injury Protection (PIP) - This coverage pays medical expenses for the insured driver, regardless of whose fault it was, for treatment due to injuries arising in an auto accident.
· Uninsured Motorist - Pays for your car's damages when an auto accident is caused by another driver who doesn't have liability insurance.
· Underinsured Motorist – Pays for your car's damages when an auto accident is caused by someone who has insufficient liability insurance to settle all your claims.
· Rental Reimbursement - This type of insurance will pay for a rental car if your rented car is damaged due to an auto accident. Often this coverage has a daily allowance to be paid for at the time of renting a car.
Certain insurance policies club together a number of these types of coverage. Depending on the laws that exist in your state you have to choose the insurance you want for your car. Even though the state may not require extensive insurance, extra coverage may be worth the expense as it is possible that you may be straddled with thousands of dollars because of an auto accident.

Auto Insurance Rate

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

auto insuranceAfter so many experts have warned us that the cost of car insurance is on the rise, what's happened? It's fallen! It's mostly down to the growing impact of shopping online.
In the second half of 2005 the average car insurance premium fell from £470.17 to £462.15. But it's the silver surfers who've benefited most. During the last six months of last year, drivers over the age of 65 have seen their average premium fall by 4.5% from £342 to £347. What is most surprising are the huge differences in premiums between providers. Differences of 40% between the most expensive and the cheapest are common.
It seems that most motorists are not aware of this as every year, half of them automatically renew their insurance with their existing insurer. A further 19% only bother to get one competitive quotation.
And readers will be surprised who sells the expensive policies. A recent survey in “Which”, the consumer magazine, shows that Norwich Union - the UK's biggest insurer - failed to come top in any of the 36 driver categories surveyed. Direct Line, another well-known name, only managed one top spot.
This is down to the marketing strategies of the big brand names. They have been building up their client base with low prices and heavy advertising and then gradually increase prices. They are clearly relying on apathy and brand loyalty to keep their clients. And with 50% automatically renewing, it works!
But if you decide to shop around, be careful. A low price isn't everything. Some policies have mouth-wateringly low prices but skimp elsewhere.
For example, when your car is being repaired, do you want a courtesy car? Some policies only pay £100 or so for stolen audio equipment. Is that enough? Do you want to insure your personal belongings whilst they're in your car? And crucially, some comprehensive policies won't provide third party cover if you to drive another person's car - even with their permission!
Before you decide, it's wise to consider all these aspects.
But going back to price, if you think prices are cheapest on the Internet, you're right! Internet quotations are normally 5% - 10% cheaper than telephone quotes.
When Internet shopping, most people look for the cheapest quote and then read the details about the cheapest policy to check out that they provide the cover that's needed. You can hunt for the best deals by searching under “car insurance” but some of the discount insurance sites are more easily found if you type in “discount car insurance” or “cheap car insurance”.
But please remember, when renewal time comes around go shopping again. Don't automatically renew! It's so easy on the Internet as I found this year. My previous insurer quoted me £945 and I eventually bought it for £702. A saving of £243 for 30 minutes work.

Auto Insurance: Cheap Or Expensive

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

auto insuranceJohn Maxim is an independant writer who writes for several major publications. His latest project can be seen at Accounting Blog.
Cars are considered as valuable property. People have cars as a necessity but for some it is just a form of expressing luxury or vanity. Whatever the reason is, cars must be protected especially the owners and the people on the streets if any untoward incident.
This is where auto insurance comes in.
In the United States of America, there are varied policies concerning car insurance rates. The most common is that rates vary according to car model. As to date, these are the ten cheapest cars to insure and on the other hand, the ten most expensive to insure.
In this fast-paced world of young professionals and rising businessmen, a reliable means of transportation is an absolute necessity in order to stay on track in the urban rat-race. Years ago, owning a car was considered a luxury or status symbol, but now, given the rapid rate of technological developments it has become as essential and basic as eating and sleeping.
THE five CHEAPEST:
Chrysler Town and Country
The Chrysler Town and Country is a minivan marketed by DaimlerChrysler. The Town and Country was introduced in 1990, while its sister vehicles, the Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager, had already been in production since the 1984 model year. Chrysler's success.
Chevrolet Cobalt
The Chevrolet Cobalt is a compact car introduced by Chevrolet in 2004 for the 2005 model year. The Cobalt is intended to compete with Japanese cars like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla.
Dodge Caravan
The Dodge Caravan and Dodge Grand Caravan are minivans manufactured by DaimlerChrysler (they were sold by the Chrysler Corporation until 1998). They were introduced in 1983 for the 1984 model year along with sister model the Plymouth Voyager.
Chevrolet Impala
Chevrolet's chief engineer in the late 1950s, defined the Impala as a "prestige car within the reach of the average American citizen." At its peak sales volume in 1965, the Impala was the best selling full-size car in the United States.
Chevrolet Silverado C/K Pickup
The Chevrolet Silverado from Chevrolet and its GMC counterpart, the GMC Sierra, are the latest line of full-size pickup trucks from General Motors. As of 2006, the Silverado pickup is the second-best selling vehicle in the United States, behind the Ford F-150 pickup.
These are just five among twenty cheapest cars to insure. For one not to spend bunch of money just for insurance rates, we let you know what cars do not require too much. In this modern time, it pays to have the best car but setting priorities will still be considered.
TOP TEN EXPENSIVE CARS TO INSURE:

OTHER CHEAP TO INSURE CARS:
Land Rover Range RoverPorsche CayenneG-Class Mercedes-BenzLexus LX 470Cadillac EscaladeCadillac SRXBMW X5
Sadly, the cold reality is that no matter which brand of automobile you purchase, you can never be totally certain that nothing will go wrong. There are just too many unstable factors on the road, drunk drivers, engine troubles, sleepiness, human error etc.
Yet, there is a way to protect yourself and be prepared for these so-called “road hazards” and unprecedented mishaps. This is where auto-insurance comes in. Auto Insurance is a form of insurance which comprehensively protects the insured from losses involving road mishaps depending on the type of coverage you purchase.

Auto insurance & the internet

Sunday, May 3, 2009

auto insuranceThe internet is all about information, and, more critically, the ability to compare facts, data and information from several different sources quickly and efficiently.
Arguably, as a direct result of this simple fact, nobody has felt the effects of a potential customer’s ability to find, check and compare such data than companies trying to sell services (as opposed to products) online.
Unlike a physical product, a service is not tangible, you cannot pick it up, feel it, or touch it. Thus, a service provider needs to supply the maximum amount of information, because the more information the potential customer has, the more confident he is likely to be when making the buying decision.
What better way to do this than via the worldwide web?
A perfect example of this is the automobile or car insurance marketplace. In the past, if you wanted to get the most competitive quotation for your car insurance, you had to “shop around” by trudging from one insurance broker or company’s office to another, or by getting on the telephone to do the same thing.
The problem with this was that it was often difficult, if not impossible to know whether you were truly comparing like with like. There were (and, to a large extent, still are) so many potential variations from one company’s policy to another that it was almost impossible to know whether the two policies that you were comparing really did offer identical levels of protection and benefits.
This was not always a bad thing. For example, all car insurance companies tend to “load” the premium (i.e. charge extra) for “young drivers” to be included on a policy, which can be bad news for parents using the family car to teach their son or daughter to drive. However, Company “A” may define a young driver as someone below the age of 18, whereas Company “B” will use a threshold of 21 years of age.
If your child was 19, the chances are that Company “A” will be the best bet in these circumstances.
In other words in the old days, it was absolutely necessary to “read the small print”, to avoid ending up with a automobile insurance policy that really did not meet your requirements, although it appeared at first as if it did.
Coming right back up to the present day, whilst the small print is still extremely important, the internet has effectively ensured that it is no longer so small! It is now possible to make meaningful and accurate comparisons of exactly what two companies are offering with their car insurance policy at the touch of a button.
You are still “shopping around” but you are doing it at our own speed, from the comfort of your own home.
In this way, the internet has made finding the best car insurance a far less stressful business than it was in the past, and has also guaranteed that the policy you buy is absolutely the most suitable for your own circumstances.
